Favourite gym accessories

Hi guys!

Hope everyone in the UK enjoyed the our week of summer.

I thought today I will share with you my all time favourite gym accessories. As you may know I have recently started going to the gym daily in order to get ready for a fitness competition later on this year. You can read more about my new journey and goals here. Make sure you subscribe in order to keep up with my posts.

So lets get started with todays MUST HAVES.

  1. Headphones/Earphones- These were (and sometimes still are when I am training alone) a must have for me. I was very anxious about going to the gym at. the start, but listening to my own music helped tonnes.

  2. Water- This is probably really obvious but you will be surprised how many people don’t even bring a bottle to the gym, or just forget to drink while there. It is really important to stay hydrated throughout the day and especially at the gym. (tip: take small sips to ensure you don’t feel sickly and full while working out- nothing worse than water moving around in you while you’re trying to workout).

  3. Gloves- If you are just doing cardio this is probably not essential but if you are using weights I would recommend you to get a set of gloves. It protects my palms from getting sore as I train everyday so this way I don’t get sore hands, and its also great for grip. – sweaty hands and heavy weights are a no-no. Be careful.

  4. Plan/Notebook- This for me is one of the most important parts of training. I think the best way to keep to something is if its written down in front of you on paper. I can plan a really good training session in my head, but then either give up or forget it when it comes to being in the gym. Write yourself a plan before you go, and make sure you work towards increasing the reps, the time, the weights etc. Challenge yourself! it will be worth it 🙂

  5. Hairhand- sweaty hair stuck on your forehead or in your eyes is not pretty. Tie your hair up, get sweaty, its the gym not a party. I am really proud of myself, as I completely got over my fear of the gym and will go no matter how bad of a hairday I am having.

Let me know what your favourite things are to take to the gym.

I hope you guys are having a great week! Thank you for reading.

Blogmas 2016- Favourite Christmas Recipes

Hey guys!

Oh you all know how much I like to eat. Food is just great, and what is there not to love about Christmas dinner? (I bet some of you are thinking- sprouts)

I thought today I will share with you the three dishes that I absolutely love, and would miss the most if they didn’t appear on my Christmas dinner table.

This is not even part of your meal as such, as it is the dessert but OMG I think all hell would break loose if my mum would decide not to make this. Dad and I would be so shocked that we would probably give it a go ourselves. ha Honestly this is my absolute favourite dish, HOWEVER saying that I have never had a nice one from a shop or a restaurant. My mum makes the best one, she managed to figure out the quantities and I will make sure this is copied by J this Christmas. I pretty much eat all my dinner leaving my dessert belly all empty just to demolish half of mummy’s creation. SUPER YUM

  • 2 boxes of mascarpone
  • 1 tub of whipping cream (large)
  • sponge fingers (3packs so around 30)
  • rum extract
  • sugar (2 tblsp)
  • cocoa powder (just to drizzle on the top)

For the cream: Mix your mascarpone, cream and rum extract in a large bowl with the sugar until smooth. Make sure not to overdo it, as it will turn into butter.

Layering: Simply make a really strong coffee and wait for it to cool down. (The biscuits will soak the hot coffee up too much and that is where it goes wrong and things go soggy.yuck) dip your sponge fingers in the coffee, but do not submerge. I just hold it with a finger at either end and just dip each side into the cold coffee. That is all you need, I promise. Layer your biscuits at the bottom of the dish. Now add a layer of your cream, make sure it covers the biscuits but not too thick. Now add another layer of the biscuits and then cream and repeat until you have run out of cream. The cream should be the top layer .

Serving: I like to just scoop it into little bowls with a spoon, or an ice-cream scoop. Drizzle it with plain cocoa. DELICIOUS.

Yorkshire puddings

You may think I am mad to include this, but I think the first time I had a Yorkie was made by J so could not have been more than 3 years ago. CRAZY isn’t it? Our traditions are much different in Hungary of course and my mum keeps the traditions all year long. Anyway, I do love a Yorkie pudding, as it basically is a pancake that I can stuff with stuffing and gravy and mash. FANTASTIC.

Since J has a secret family recipe I cannot tell you what exactly is in it, but it basically is a runny pancake batter. I know that you put a little oil into each section of the muffin tray and heat it in the oven until super hot. This is the stage when you add your pudding mix, and stick it in the oven until golden brown. Sounds easy? Well, they so often shrink or don’t even rise at all. They can be crispy which is not correct or too soggy which is also not great. I honestly can say that J makes a great Yorkshire pudding -yes I know he is a chef but still.

Cider and Jam ham

Just so you know, this is usually something I have either at home with my parents, but more likely at their friends’ house. Really easy but super delicious. All you need is a big gammon joint, cheap cider (dirt cheap one like the Sainsbury’s own value) onions, garlic and apricot jam.

There is two way of cooking the ham, either in a large pot for a large portion of the day or in a slow cooker. The slow cooker is probably the best option. Just place your gammon, onions, garlic and cider into your slow cooker and cook it for about 6 hours on a low heat, but make sure it doesn’t fall apart. Oce cooked, remove it from the slow cooker, take the skin off if you have any on it and place it onto a large baking tray. I recommend that you wrap the baking tray in tin foil as this can get messy.

This is the point when you generously coat the cooked ham with your apricot jam and place it into a hot oven. (Probably 180 degrees C). This is where it gets a tad messy, as you will have to make sure to come back to it every so often and spoon the jam back on the top. You want to make sure to get the ham completely glazed with the jam, so it goes nice and crispy on the outside.

This is great for your Christmas dinner, or also as a sandwich filling throughout the year. I absolutely love it, and even though it sounds like an odd combination, TRUST ME it is gorgeous.

What are your Christmas dinner favourites?

I have a really busy weekend with my staff party being a full weekend thing, so if the posts are a bit late I’m sorry. I’m not sure what the internet is going to be like in the hotel.

Blogmas 2016- My favourite Christmas movies

Hey guys!

Welcome back to Blogmas!

Today I’m going to share with you the movies that I love watching during the Christmas holidays. I actually cannot get bored of these even though I have watched most of them over and over again.

Blogmas2016- My favourite Christmas movies-2.png

1.Harry Potter- I love watching the movies back to back during the year, but watching it with family while drinking hot chocolate is just a little more special. I am not going to lie and tell you that I used to watch HP every single day for quite a few years actually. OOPS. I just had it in the background during studies, or actually was willing to watch one of them just before bed. Much better than something super scary that will keep me awake eh?

2.Home Alone-Definitely a Christmas classic in every household. I am yet to meet someone who does not enjoy watching this. I don’t think I need to explain what happens. If you have not watched this yet you MUST watch it NOW!

3.Nightmare Before Christmas- What a fantastic movie. I love everything about Tim Burton’s creations. It amazes me to think that it is 23 year old this year. Lots of great things were born in ’93 (including me :D) This is another must in our house. Christmas would not be the same if I don’t watch this.

4.Polar Express- I am not going to lie I did not like this movie at first. It was just a bit too much for me. However, over the years I started loving it. I can’t wait to watch it in a few weeks. Another one for the kids really, but I am an adult and I enjoy watching it too.

5. Arthur Christmas- You can tell I mostly cherish the movies I watched as a child as they bring me back the best memories. This is relatively new, it was released in 2011. For me, this is a great movie to watch with children or the younger family members. It’s just so happy and funny. I love it and I’m sure I’ll get the DVD out soon. This is one of the ‘get in the mood’ type of movies for me- certainly gets me in the Christmas spirit.

6. Love Actually- This is a bit more of a love story kinda movie that you don’t necessarily have to watch at Christmas, but it is always on one of the channels. It’s another feel good movie and shows a lot of different storylines.

So these are MUST watch movies of every Christmas. I have a lot of others that I enjoy watching, but without these, I would not feel complete. I would love to see what movies you enjoy watching during Christmas. Please leave them in the comments so I can watch something a little different this year.

October favourites

Hey guys!

I thought I’ll share with you a few of the things that I have been loving this month.

  • Pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks – Need I say more??! I must not be the only person who is counting the months down until September so she can finally get her hands on grande pumpkin spice latte. If you haven’t tried it, then you MUST go and grab one before it is too late.

  • To stay on the food wagon, this is a bit of a strange one, but since I ate at LEAST one a day this month, it deserves a feature. These biscuits above are from Lidl and are individually wrapped and come in a pack of 10 for under £2. Who can say no to that right?? I love them and they remind me of the ones I ate in Hungary as a kid.

Right onto some beauty products:

  • As you might have read in Octobers glossybox review, I have received the Rituals body cream. Let me tell you guys this might just be the best thing I have ever applied on my skin. I absolutely love this, the smell is incredible and it just glides onto your skin. It also stays on your skin all day, AND the scent stays strong throughout the day too. Once I jump into the shower, I can feel that it doesn’t mix with the water on my skin. Of course, it washes away with some shower gel. I think it has been a great addition to my tanning lotion too and has kept my skin soft and smelling amazing all throughout the month. Expensive?-YES but worth is so much.
  • Another ‘new-to-me’ product is the Real Techniques brush cleansing palette. WOW! this thing is great! My brushes have not been this clean since the first time I got them .I couldn’t believe how much ‘dirt’ has been coming out each and every one of them. (Bit gross really but we have all been there) I cannot recommend it enough and if you use makeup at all this has to be something you add to your tools and accessories, as I couldn’t imagine cleaning my brushes without it. It is recommended that you use their cleansing fluid alongside the palette for the best result, and yes it does work well, however I will stick to baby shampoo or bath products for now. its priced at around £10-£15 depends on where you purchase it, but by shopping around you will be able to find one for a decent price.
  • Lastly, but definitely not least I have been loving my Too Faced- Peach palette lately. I have purchased this off Ebay (will not link the seller but you can find them easily) so I am not a 100% sure that it is real (in fact it’s more than likely fake). Saying that it smells like peaches and the colours are great and pigmented. I cannot fault the product and I believe I got my hands on it for less than £10 which is a bargain either way. Love love love it!

So, these are my October favourites, I hope you have enjoyed them.

Glossybox Review- October 2016- Estee Lalonde

Hey guys!

YESS it is that time again, Glossybox review time.

I have read a few of the sneak peaks this month and I was so excited to finally get my box. Unfortunately once again no-one was home so I had to pick it up from my local parcel collection office, which has the WORST opening times. Anywho I have it now and I am one happy chappy this month.

May I just say this months’ box smelled extremely lovely when I opened it and made me excited for the content even more. I quickly realised that we actually got 6 products this month as well, which just added to my excitement.

filsjourney glossybox october 2016 review haul blogger.jpg

Let’s see what we got :

The mysterious shampoo: Now initially this was a secret product, that we were told to try out before the item gets revealed. (it has been revealed in emails, therefore I can tell you that the product is of course Head and Shoulders.) I didn’t actually try the product before the reveal, but the smell sort of gave it away I think. One issue with head and shoulders is that it is not the best for coloured hair, especially if that is a funky/crazy colour. However, I am going to give it a go as I have not used head and shoulders for over 6 years due to the above issue.

1.We received another Bee Good product which I am so excited about. A few months ago we got their firming moisturiser which I loved. My review of that is here. I am so excited to try this one and I am sure I will love it just as much. This time we got their Honey and Camelina Facial Exfoliator which smells great and promises to be gentle to all skin types. I love these types of creamy exfoliators, and this one is full of great ingredients and no nasty chemicals. We actually got the full-size product which would normally cost £10.50.

2. During the winter my skin needs just a bit of extra love, and moisturising, therefore I was happy to find another body cream in this months box. I have never heard of the brand ‘Rituals’ before, but immediately I fell in love with their ‘The Rituals of Sakura Body Cream’. I honestly cannot believe how good it smells. It is absolutely amazing and feels like silk on your skin. I will DEFINITELY repurchase, even though it costs £19.50 for the full-size product. So worth it- one of my favourite products so far from Glossybox.

3. Another brand which I have not used, or heard about is Trifle Cosmetics. I love the fact we receive so many organic, environment-friendly and gentle products from Glossybox every single month. The Lip Parfait- Buttery Lip Cream is another example of a great product. It is full of good ingredients, vitamin E, it’s hypoallergenic, vegan and has no parabens or nasty chemicals. I simply love it, the colour is a lovely baby pink which feels so soft on your lips. I love the texture, the ingredients and the smell!!. It retails at £12.95 which is quite expensive, but you are getting a really really good product. Check out the website they have lots more stuff.

4.PS…Pro Longwear Lipliner- As you probably already know, the PS..Pro is a Primark make-up product. I am unable to leave a link as Primark doesn’t really have a website, but I am sure you can find these lipliners in every store. I’ve not tried it on my lips, I have only swatched it on the back of my hands, but let me tell you it really stays put. I don’t mind the make-up from Primark, and one of my favourite lip liners (which I use all over my lips) is from there and cost me a whole £1. Don’t get me wrong it is not the best, but its priced fair and I like it. This Lipliner is priced at only £3. (also if you are a fan of a bit of extreme eye makeup I recommend using this as eyeliner too, especially as its Halloween time)

.5.We recently received a lip/ cheek tint a few months ago. I’ve heard that this month we are receiving another product like that, which at the start bothered me, however when I opened the box I realised this is completely different. We received the Universal Beauty Cosmetics- Secret Flush, Soothing Cream blusher & Lip Stain Duo. Name and a half that is! I’ve got colour #4-Nectar, which is a great colour for autumn, as it is a little deeper and more red than pink. You can use this as a blusher, or just a tint, all over your lips on its own, or adding it to another lip product to deepen the colour. I would even use it as a base eyeshadow, possibly under something glittery to use as a primer to let the glitter stick. tHeres just so many options. Once again the scent of this is great, and it is also a full-size product. RRP of $20 or £15 it’s not the cheapest product out there but it certainly is versatile.

That is it for this month, and I am really impressed Glossybox! You have done so well. I cannot get over the fact that all of the products picked by Estee Lalonde smell amazing! I want more products like these in the future. Fil approves !

Thanks for reading

Favourite foundations

Hey guys!

Today I thought I will do a foundation review, and show you the few foundations I have been loving. Some of these are new to my collection this year, however I have my old time favourites too.

favourtie foundation rimmel maxfacto baremineral review

  • Bare Minerals – Original SPF 15 foundation

This has to be my all-time favourite foundation. I have loved it from day one and have been using this for quite a few years now. It will take a few tries to figure out how to use it but I guarantee this is such a great alternative to heavy liquid foundations. I found that layering it makes it look more flawless, so I use a little powder each time and work it well into the skin and repeat. It’s not only long lasting, but it does seem to have helped with the breakouts. -I use the colour fairly light

  • Rimmel – Lasting finish foundation

This is one of the new liquid foundations I have loved recently. I have pretty dry skin and wanted to get a foundation that is quick to apply, unlike the bare minerals one and will not look flakey on my skin if I didn’t have time to moisturise. I actually really like this foundation, the coverage is pretty good. It is not completely full coverage but it is very buildable and does last a few hours. I wouldn’t say 24hrs but does last a while. Little tip: securing with some translucent, or even normal fixing powder will make it last much longer. I use the shade ivory which is the lightest shade with a neutral/warm undertone. Porcelain would be pink for my skin tone.

  • Maxfactor- Face finity all day flawless 3 in 1 foundation

Now this is probably the most full-coverage foundation that I own. It is full coverage from the first application and does stay on exceptionally well. I do like setting my liquid foundation with a thin layer of powder, even if it is a translucent one.  I really do love this foundation and use it mostly for nights out or special occasions. The Rimmel one is my everyday choice but this Maxfactor is my favourite for other times. I am in the colour warm almond, and it matches my skin perfectly.

Do you have a favourite foundation? Let me know in the comments, I would love to try out some new ones.
