GLOSSYBOX REVIEW – August 2017

Hi guys!

It’s been a while since I have done a Glossybox review. I have continued the subscription and used and LOVED the products but never got around to reviewing them.

BUT (I can hear my old English teachers voice telling me off for starting a sentence with ‘but’.) I am back with the August review, and its a good one!

Glossybox August 2017

So lets see what we got this month:

Essence– live.laugh.celebrate palette: This is such a cute palette. All the products are individually packed and you place them in the palette yourself. It is the perfect travel accessory as Essence don’t only do eyeshadows, but you can get blushes and highlighters too. Glossybox have been great and sent us 2 eyeshadows, a blusher and a highlighter. I know this will be perfect for me to take in my gym bag, as I get ready in there and having to carry highlight palettes and eyeshadow palettes is a pain. The price is great too, as the palette is only £1.50 and so are the powders. Super affordable !

Modellauncher– Safari sun bronzer: Who doesn’t love a nice bronzed skin? You can just never have enough bronzers. I really like this formula as its super smooth and its not too dark either so will be good for all year around. I do wear darker tones at the moment but I know I will love this in the winter more so than the summer. I am also a fan of these mosaic style bronzers, as I find they just give your skin that glow instead of just being plain and matte. The price of this is just average, as it retails for £16.50. I have not wore it yet for a full day, but I am looking forward to trying it as the cheaper bronzers tend to just disappear off your face. Hopefully this is different and worth its price.

Essence swatches.jpg

Rodial– Suede lips: Lip crayons are so in right now aren’t they? we received a plumping one last month which is my go to pretty much everyday now. I am excited to see another Rodial product actually, as we had a few of them before and I loved them. The mascara, I still use everyday for my bottom lashes. Back to the crayon though, it is such a lovely dark mauve shade-I am in love with it. I can tell this will be something I use daily. The formula is great too, its very soft and it just glides on so easily. It is full of Vitamin E which is perfect for summer as its really moisturising- Great after a long day in the sun. This retails for £22 which is quite high, however I think Rodial products are great and its worth it.

Batiste– 2 in 1 dry shampoo and conditioner: What can I say, another great product from batiste. I have been using their dry shampoo for absolute years, and I love all the new products they have been coming out with this year. The product is always great, the smell is amazing and it doesn’t leave white residue in your hair – great if you have any other hair colour other than blonde. (on blonde hair you can’t really see anyways) The price of this is average, and matched all the other products in the range, it is £4.49 in Boots.

GlossyboxAugustcloseup.jpg

and lastly, Valquer– Ice hair mask/total repair: Oh this is exactly what I need as my argan oil mask has ran out. My hair is in such a bad condition since I have bleached it again a few weeks ago. I cannot wait to try this, as it promises to hydrate and tame my hair- perfect as its bleached and burnt from my straighteners/curlers.

So as you can tell, I really loved the August box and cannot wait to see what goodies I will get in September 🙂 Does any of you get any subscription boxes? Leave a link below as I would love to see your reviews.

Glossybox review- January 2017

Hey guys,

Yay, it is my favourite time of the month, it’s Glossybox time!!
Since it’s the first book of the year, of course it is going to be a special edition. This month glossy box have collaborated with the one and only ‘Deliciously Stella’. Click the link and head over to her Instagram, she’s super funny.

glossybox-january-2017

Let’s what we got this month

Nip Fab- Kale fix moisturiser– This is a superfood salad for your face. It contains kale, watercress, almond oil, aloe vera and shea butter. It promises to help moisturise, protect, sooth and smooth your skin. It sounds like the perfect product for me. The moisturiser has a lovely consistency, but it is not too heavy on your skin. The smell is a little odd, but I do like it. It smells similar to them old school cucumber peeler masks my mum used to use. This retails for around £15, which is a bit pricey for a moisturiser, but if it is like the other NipFab products, it is worth it.

Unani- Illuminate Milk Cleanser– I’m not going to lie, I have never heard of this brand before. To be fair this is why I love my glossybox subscription so much, as it introduces me to lots of lovely new brands. This product is like a makeup remover/moisturiser/cleanser all in one. Sounds perfect for the lazy days. This retails for $18 or around £14. That seems pretty reasonable for such a big bottle. Let’s hope it does what it says.

The balm- Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow– So we had a sneak peek of this in last month’s box. I do love the sneak peek feature, as it gets me even more excited for the future boxes. So this is one shade from the balms palette of 9. I received shade ‘matt kumar’ which is a deep burgundy colour. I have swatched it on the back of my hand and it seems really pigmented, but would blend really well. I am looking forward to creating some great looks with this in the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for some tutorials.  The palette costs about £38 which is rather expensive, so I expect this to be amazing!

True organic of Sweden- All you need is me– This is another ‘good for everything’ kinda product. It is completely chemical free, you can use it on your hair, body, face, lips etc. I have been using my aloe-vera gel for my breakouts but I will definitely try this too. Seems great, and retails for £20. That’s also reasonable price, and I’m impressed that we got the bigger 50ml product rather than the 15ml.

Lastly, another fantastic facemark by Vitamasques. If you have read my previous reviews, (if not just click on the above categories and then the Glossybox section) you will know that we have received vitamasques products before, and I LOVED them. It’s because of them that I love full face sheet masks, and I was in need of a new one this week. I can’t wait to try this one, full of Manuka honey goodness. Apparently it smells good enough to eat. This is priced £3.99 which is fantastic.

So as you can see, we received 4 full size products which is awesome! AAND a lovely little notebook too. Who doesn’t love them, especially this time of the year. I am so excited to try these out. I have recently been really good with my skincare routine and have been focusing on making sure that my skin is always cleansed and moisturised at night time therefore all of these will help me out. I think everyone starts the year with a new skincare routine, so this is the perfect box. Also after easing a lot of junk food over Christmas, I’ve had loads of breakouts so these will help me make my skin nice and perfect again.

What do you guys think of this months box?

Fil, x

Blogmas 2016- Glossybox review December 2016

Hey guys!

As you all know, I love this time of the month, as it is Glossybox review time. I am so excited about this, as I absolutely love everything in the box. It’s like a pre Christmas present given to me by myself.

In the November box, we were shown a sneak peek of a lipstick that we will be getting this month. We also had a chance to pick either the berry tone or the nude one. I opted for the nude so I was excited to see if I finally managed to get one that doesn’t make me look all washed out.

Blogmas-2016-glossybox-december-2016.jpg

MDM Flow– Semi-matte Lipstick in the shade ‘Bossy’
YAYY!!! I have FINALLY found the perfect nude lipstick for myself. I love love love this shade. The Lipstick itself comes in a lovely gold packaging, very similar to a Vicks inhaler actually. It’s small and compact so it is great for your handbag and for travel. I cannot wait to test it for a full day. I am really excited to try it with some lip gloss, as well as on its own.
It retails for £18 which is a reasonable price these days. Also, make sure to check out the rest of their shades as there are SO SO many.

Essence-luminizer palette
I actually have a few Essence products already, and they are EXTREMELY affordable. Honestly, they are not that bad and one of the lipsticks I have is actually my all time daily favourite. This palette has three different highlighters, which are actually rather pigmented. I was pleasantly surprised with the product and for about £3, you really can’t go wrong.

Gosh– Mono eyeshadow in the shade dark green
Gosh is actually a brand that I don’t really use all that often. I do have a beautiful purple lipstick, so I was really excited to give this a swatch. Green is actually a really nice colour to wear if you have brown eyes. I am looking forward to trying this out properly, as it is rather dark so a lot of blending is needed I think. Retail price of £8.99 I find is a little expensive, but this is why I love Glossybox.

Revlon– Nail enamel in Gray Suede
OOOHHH This is gorgeous. I actually get acrylic nails done once a fortnight as I am rubbish with applying nail varnish. I actually use a similar colour to this on my acrylics during the summer, and it is really pretty. It is another nude/pink shade, which would go well with any outfit. Revlon says that the varnish will stay on your nails for 10 days without chipping. I’m not sure about that if you do a lot of housework and washing the dishes every night, but it does seem to be a thick consistency. This is something I will gift to one of my friends. REtials at £6.49 which isn’t the cheapest but if it does what it says on the ‘tin’ I would recommend it.

And finally we got the Lipcote-Browcote
Now I was really buzzing about this as I have just used the last of my brow setter liquid. This is a waterproof transparent eyebrow gel, that promises to set your eyebrow makeup for hours. I am a big fan of perfect brows, so this is another product that I will use and hope it works just as well as it says it does. It’s priced £6.99 which isn’t too bad either.

I was truly impressed with this box as well as the past few I’ve had. I think Glossybox has done well, and I am looking forward to the January box.

Love,
Fil, x

Glossybox November 2016

Hey guys!

I can’t believe how quick the months go by! It’s Glossybox time again 🙂 And it’s nearly Christmas too.

So let’s see what this little pink box got in store for us this November.

glossybox-november-review.jpg

1.  Ruby Professional– Large tapered Blending Brush- This is a perfect addition to my makeup brush collection. Currently, I have 2 blending brushes, however, none of which are this soft. This brush is the softest one I have had the chance to feel/use. I am excited to create some real badass smokey eyes with this little gem. This retails for €8, which is relatively fair these days. Not the most expensive and not the cheapest however I can tell already that this will be my favourite blending brush.

2.111 Skin– Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask- I am a big fan of sheet masks, and face masks so I am buzzing about this one. If you head over to my Instagram you can see me trying out another gel face mask not that long ago. I looked rather silly, and J thought I was going mad. But it worked and my skin felt amazing. So I am really looking forward to giving my skin some extra loving in this cold winter. This is normally priced £20 which for one mask may seem crazy, but I bet it makes my skin feel like a million dollars. Gotta wait and see…

3. De Bruyere Beaute– Jumbo Eye Pencil in Bubble 07. This is such a gorgeous shade for winter. I love deep khaki and browns, and the gold tone of it just lovely. Apparently, this product was featured in Victoria Beckham’s fashion show. If it’s good enough for the models I am sure my eyes will have no problem giving this a go. I swatched the pencil, and it is super pigmented, however, it blends out really easily. I am definitely adding this to my collection with pride. Might also be a nice bronzer/highlight as well during the winter. Hmmm.. This gem is €15 and will be a great addition to ladies and gents who like an easy eyeshadow on a busy morning.

4.Now ,this next product I can’t really comment about. I am not a false eyelash wearer as I wear glasses ad even if I just use too much mascara, it touched my lenses. (please tell me I am not the only one!!) However, these do look really pretty and I do have a few other lashes in my makeup stash too. I will definitely give them a go once I figure out how to apply lashes. Bare with me I am no MUA. Anyhow, this is the Kiss- Looks so natural lashes that you can pick up in your local Superdrug. It’s only £4.95 as well and I believe these can be used over and over again so it really is not expensive. (They are on sale currently for JUST £3.32- bargain)

5.Wilkinson Sword- Raspberry Rain razors– I’d be lying if I’d say I wasn’t excited to see this. I HATE hair- it’s not my fetish for sure. TMI Fil.. .Anyways, I was excited as I do really like Wilkinsons. I’m sure everyone knows that lady razors SUCK and most of us girls use men razors. Saying that, I love the Quattro range so yeah, I like this and it’s a great shout as it’s always useful to have. May I add they actually smell really good? probably not an important aspect, but they smell LOVELY. It’s on sale on Superdrug’s website so instead of £5.99 it is only £2.97. Another bargain for you for the Christmas party.

Last but not least we also got a cheeky piece of Raffaello. It is one of my favourites, and I like it so much better than Ferrero Rochers. We used to always get one from Daddy (by one I mean one big box) for women’s day so yeah, this gone done as a treat.

That is it for this month. I really am impressed with the box and I know all (maybe not the lashes) will be used up fairly quickly. I love Glossybox as it gives me great ideas for new products, and also gift ideas for Christmas.

Thanks for reading, as always:

Love,

Fil x

I am going to be doing Blogmas this year. What are the things you would like to see next month? I’d love to do a Q and A so please leave your questions below, or drop them below any of my pictures on Instagram.

Aliexpress- Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Dupes

Hey guys!

I’m so excited to review these beauties today. I have been wanting a few of the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks for such a long time, but at $18 each plus delivery I wasn’t able to get them. UNTIL I found some dupes on Aliexpress. This is the first time I have used Aliexpress but I guarantee it’s not the last.

jeffreestar-aliexpess-review-velour-liquid-lipstick

I went a tad crazy, since the prices were really really low and picked 7 colours all together. (came to less than £10 with delivery- BARGAIN). Obviously, at first, I was rather sceptical and thought the products are going to be poor quality, however, I was pleasantly surprised. I really do love all 7 colours, some more than others and obviously, a few will only be suitable for fancy dress or gigs. Yes, the colours are not completely accurate and are not as great as Jeffrees, but I am impressed with them all, and the packaging looks quite original too.

Right let’s see the colours up close (don’t judge-not the best at applying lipstick, but I better bloody practice since these will last me forever)
celebrityskin-masochist-rosematter-annanicole-abused-dirtymoney-adrogyny-jeffreestar-aliexpress

The colours from top to bottom are celebrity skin (my favourite), abused, rose matter, dirty money, masochist, androgyny and finally anna nicole.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know if you have any of the original Jeffree Star lippies.

Love, Fil x

October favourites

Hey guys!

I thought I’ll share with you a few of the things that I have been loving this month.

  • Pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks – Need I say more??! I must not be the only person who is counting the months down until September so she can finally get her hands on grande pumpkin spice latte. If you haven’t tried it, then you MUST go and grab one before it is too late.

october-favourites-lidl

  • To stay on the food wagon, this is a bit of a strange one, but since I ate at LEAST one a day this month, it deserves a feature. These biscuits above are from Lidl and are individually wrapped and come in a pack of 10 for under £2. Who can say no to that right?? I love them and they remind me of the ones I ate in Hungary as a kid.

Right onto some beauty products:

october-favourites-rituals-toofaced-real-techniques

  • As you might have read in Octobers glossybox review, I have received the Rituals body cream. Let me tell you guys this might just be the best thing I have ever applied on my skin. I absolutely love this, the smell is incredible and it just glides onto your skin. It also stays on your skin all day, AND the scent stays strong throughout the day too. Once I jump into the shower, I can feel that it doesn’t mix with the water on my skin. Of course, it washes away with some shower gel. I think it has been a great addition to my tanning lotion too and has kept my skin soft and smelling amazing all throughout the month. Expensive?-YES but worth is so much.
  • Another ‘new-to-me’ product is the Real Techniques brush cleansing palette. WOW! this thing is great! My brushes have not been this clean since the first time I got them .I couldn’t believe how much ‘dirt’ has been coming out each and every one of them. (Bit gross really but we have all been there) I cannot recommend it enough and if you use makeup at all this has to be something you add to your tools and accessories, as I couldn’t imagine cleaning my brushes without it. It is recommended that you use their cleansing fluid alongside the palette for the best result, and yes it does work well, however I will stick to baby shampoo or bath products for now. its priced at around £10-£15 depends on where you purchase it, but by shopping around you will be able to find one for a decent price.
  • Lastly, but definitely not least I have been loving my Too Faced- Peach palette lately. I have purchased this off Ebay (will not link the seller but you can find them easily) so I am not a 100% sure that it is real (in fact it’s more than likely fake). Saying that it smells like peaches and the colours are great and pigmented. I cannot fault the product and I believe I got my hands on it for less than £10 which is a bargain either way. Love love love it!

So, these are my October favourites, I hope you have enjoyed them.

Love,

Fil, x

What have you been loving this month? Have you tried the above products before? Also if you want me to do a few tutorials and looks with the eyeshadow palette just let me know in the comments.

Glossybox Review- October 2016- Estee Lalonde

Hey guys!

YESS it is that time again, Glossybox review time.

I have read a few of the sneak peaks this month and I was so excited to finally get my box. Unfortunately once again no-one was home so I had to pick it up from my local parcel collection office, which has the WORST opening times. Anywho I have it now and I am one happy chappy this month.

May I just say this months’ box smelled extremely lovely when I opened it and made me excited for the content even more. I quickly realised that we actually got 6 products this month as well, which just added to my excitement.

filsjourney glossybox october 2016 review haul blogger.jpg

Let’s see what we got :

The mysterious shampoo: Now initially this was a secret product, that we were told to try out before the item gets revealed. (it has been revealed in emails, therefore I can tell you that the product is of course Head and Shoulders.) I didn’t actually try the product before the reveal, but the smell sort of gave it away I think. One issue with head and shoulders is that it is not the best for coloured hair, especially if that is a funky/crazy colour. However, I am going to give it a go as I have not used head and shoulders for over 6 years due to the above issue.

Skincare:

1.We received another Bee Good product which I am so excited about. A few months ago we got their firming moisturiser which I loved. My review of that is here. I am so excited to try this one and I am sure I will love it just as much. This time we got their Honey and Camelina Facial Exfoliator which smells great and promises to be gentle to all skin types. I love these types of creamy exfoliators, and this one is full of great ingredients and no nasty chemicals. We actually got the full-size product which would normally cost £10.50.

2. During the winter my skin needs just a bit of extra love, and moisturising, therefore I was happy to find another body cream in this months box. I have never heard of the brand ‘Rituals’ before, but immediately I fell in love with their ‘The Rituals of Sakura Body Cream’. I honestly cannot believe how good it smells. It is absolutely amazing and feels like silk on your skin. I will DEFINITELY repurchase, even though it costs £19.50 for the full-size product. So worth it- one of my favourite products so far from Glossybox.

Make-up:

3. Another brand which I have not used, or heard about is Trifle Cosmetics. I love the fact we receive so many organic, environment-friendly and gentle products from Glossybox every single month. The Lip Parfait- Buttery Lip Cream is another example of a great product. It is full of good ingredients, vitamin E, it’s hypoallergenic, vegan and has no parabens or nasty chemicals. I simply love it, the colour is a lovely baby pink which feels so soft on your lips. I love the texture, the ingredients and the smell!!. It retails at £12.95 which is quite expensive, but you are getting a really really good product. Check out the website they have lots more stuff.

4.PS…Pro Longwear Lipliner- As you probably already know, the PS..Pro is a Primark make-up product. I am unable to leave a link as Primark doesn’t really have a website, but I am sure you can find these lipliners in every store. I’ve not tried it on my lips, I have only swatched it on the back of my hands, but let me tell you it really stays put. I don’t mind the make-up from Primark, and one of my favourite lip liners (which I use all over my lips) is from there and cost me a whole £1. Don’t get me wrong it is not the best, but its priced fair and I like it. This Lipliner is priced at only £3. (also if you are a fan of a bit of extreme eye makeup I recommend using this as eyeliner too, especially as its Halloween time)

.5.We recently received a lip/ cheek tint a few months ago. I’ve heard that this month we are receiving another product like that, which at the start bothered me, however when I opened the box I realised this is completely different. We received the Universal Beauty Cosmetics- Secret Flush, Soothing Cream blusher & Lip Stain Duo. Name and a half that is! I’ve got colour #4-Nectar, which is a great colour for autumn, as it is a little deeper and more red than pink. You can use this as a blusher, or just a tint, all over your lips on its own, or adding it to another lip product to deepen the colour. I would even use it as a base eyeshadow, possibly under something glittery to use as a primer to let the glitter stick. tHeres just so many options. Once again the scent of this is great, and it is also a full-size product. RRP of $20 or £15 it’s not the cheapest product out there but it certainly is versatile.

That is it for this month, and I am really impressed Glossybox! You have done so well. I cannot get over the fact that all of the products picked by Estee Lalonde smell amazing! I want more products like these in the future. Fil approves !

Thanks for reading

Love,

Fil x
