Everyday makeup look

Hi guys!

Today I will show you my go to makeup look. I don’t leave too much time in the mornings for makeup therefore this is rather quick and simple. It changes a little everyday but I have been doing this look the last few days.

Please click on the product name and it will take you over to the website where you can buy it for yourself if you wish 🙂

Let me know what you guys think and please link me to your posts about makeup looks. I am looking forward to doing more of these at it was fun. Possibly going to do an evening look soon?! What do you guys think?

So firstly the primer: I have quite dry skin around and on my nose and makeup used to just look like a dried out cupcake after a few hours so I really needed to invest into a good primer. I have used a few primers but nothing quite like this one.  I highly recommend the nivea primer, it absorbs pretty much instantly and the makeup does’t stick to it but glides on over it and it actually helps my dry skin a lot. I am in love with this and would highly recommend 🙂

To the base: I have a new favourite foundation, which is the Rimmel lasting finish foundation in colour 100 ivory. I wanted a liquid foundation for a while so a few weeks back I did a LOT (genuinely days) of research and I found that this Rimmel one was a very highly recommended ‘drug store’ makeup for dry skin. They were not wrong. I really like how i can easily build it up and that by using a beauty blender. I use this sponge either wet or dry. I love it either way and find that using it wet makes it easier to build up, therefore I tend to use it wet when I am going out or want the makeup to look more HD 🙂 (I may also be too lazy to get up once I sat down in the mornings to actually go and dampen that thing haha).

I actually don’t have a setting powder as such, but quickly swirl my face around with my all time favourite foundation and makeup best friend : Bare Minerals Original foundation in fairly light. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bare minerals foundation. It can be full coverage if you wanted it to be however it never looks super HD and cakey and just overall natural. It is great for my skin and even though it is a powder it didn’t seem to look crumbly on my dry zones. I just love it and one pot lasts me around 6 months with applying daily. I just wanted to try a liquid foundation as well to make my skin look even more flawless. So yeah i use my bare minerals as a sort of setting powder on top of one layer of the rimmel foundation and it makes my makeup last ages.

I tend not to contour on a daily bases but use my bronzer and blusher as a quick contour. I use my bare minerals warmth and have done since I received it in my first bare minerals kit. I LOVE this however do not put it all over your face like it says on the box. You would look like a right umpalumpa and that ain’t pretty girls!! I am however running out and decided to purchase a few other lighter bronzers instead of a repurchase. (Post will be up soon) I do conceal mostly under my eyes. I have two concealers I like using but my favourite one is the collection concealer. This works wonders, it is extremely thick so use only a little as it goes a long way. I recommend setting it under the eye with a light or translucent powder just to stop it from creasing.

I always do a sort of eye makeup as I wear glasses and feel that I need to do so otherwise my eyes look really small behind the lenses. I have been using this Collection palette for absolutely ages. It is so pigmented and lasts ages on the eyes. I recommend using your fingers or a good quality brush (I use and own a lot of real techniques brushes) to reduce fallout, or to do the eye makeup before you do the foundation. I haven’t mastered that step yet as I like getting foundation all over my face, but I am working on my routine as we speak 🙂

Depending on time and how sunny it is I also like adding eyeliner and I have been using this for years, and I love it. I have got many of the colours and change it up daily, but my go to are the brown and the black liners. The mascara I have been using and absolutely LOVING is the Maybelline lash sensational in the colour black. This thing is amazing. I LOVE mascara purely because it makes my eyes look more open and bigger especially behind my glasses. I’ve had issues in the past of using mascaras that make my lashes longer however they have been rubbing off on my glasses lenses and were a nightmare after three blinks. But not this, this makes them thicker, longer and curved so they are just amazing. OH I love this girls and boys and PLEASE give it a go you will not regret it.

To finish off my daily look I sometimes wear lipstick, or just colour my lip in with one of my lip liners. MY favourite ones are the Primark ones believe it or not. I have got a collection since my last Primark visit. Please go and read my haul here.

Sorry for a long post but I love doing this. I hope you enjoyed this and let me know if you want me to post similar blogs or if you would like me to do makeup tutorials.

Primark Haul

So after about a year or so I finally decided to go to Primark again.. I have forgotten how much I actually liked Primark.

I got a mixture of things and have spent a fair bit but I love all the things I have picked up.

Firstly the clothes. I actually quite like clothes from Primark, the quality is acceptable and the price is great. I mostly like their underwear as it is inexpensive and it seems to fit me perfectly. Ladies with large busts may not be able to find bras that fit comfortably in Primark but I can always find beautiful ones in my size. I also usually by my tights from here as 3 pairs cost about £3.5 and it actually lasts quite a while. Right so what did I buy?:

It is getting a little warmer but still not often warm enough for a tshirt, however I didn’t own any light material jumpers. I recently bought some brown boots and really wanted to wear them but most of my clothes are black and all of my tshirts are band tees so it just did not go together. Maybe its just a good excuse to buy something…. who knows 🙂

Right so I picked up a lovely Vneck brown long sleeve jumper for around £8. I absolutely love the material and it held its shape and softness extremely well even after a few washes. Thumbs up Primark. There was another jumper in the sale so I had to pick that up since it was about £4. Gotta love a bargain 🙂 (Primark is THE PLACE for bargains to be fair)

I have seen many pictures and OOTDs on instagram and pinterest of girls wearing some ripped jeans, plain white or black tshirts and a long denim shirt with just some booties. I proper like that casual look so I also picked up a grey denim style long shirt. I have worn this many times as well and the quality is great and ideal for this weather as it is extremely light. It was around £10 which is once again a great price for this item.

Now I am not one for long sleeve A line dresses however I fell in love with this one and for £10 I could not leave it in the shop. I haven’t tried anything on in the shop as I was too warm and didn’t fancy waiting for a free cubicle so I took my chances. As I said this is the first A line dress (well its a straight dress not so much an A line but..) that I have bought and I really really like how it looked on. I wore it on a night out and even though the material seems ‘sweaty’ it was extremely comfortable and breathable. Another thumbs up for this one.

primark tops

I’ve also picked up a pair of my all time favourite stretchy skinny jeans. It was such a hassle to find a pair that I was looking for though. There was a mental amount of different shapes, sizes, length and types. It took me a right while to pick some up but i’m happy with them and I think it was about £7. Can’t go wrong eh?.

I couldn’t go past the underwear section without picking some up, so I got myself some very brightly coloured pants and plain black socks. How exciting!!

Now onto beauty: My all time favourite lip liner is actually my Primark one that I picked up ages ago for £1. I am not kidding it cost me £1 and its matte, stays on for ages and is a great colour. It is also easy to sharpen which is important as you don’t want to be poked in the lip by a sharp wooden pencil bits.. OUCH. SO this time I have picked up all the colours that they had in the range and I absolutely love them all. I have tried them all already and wear them on a daily bases. The deep brown one is so beautiful on and the bright pink is just so summery. I have not tired their foundation or other makeup products but the lip liners are amazing. I also like their fake nails. I currently get acrylic nails so I didn’t pick any up but for again £1 it is such a bargain. I am not one for reusing fake stick on nails, so for these to be £1 they are well worth it. I would recommend using a little more high end nail glue just to make them last longer, but i have done dishes and showered with mine on. (I also carry the glue with me just in case one comes off I can always reapply.) It is more for a night out but also great I think during the weak when you are too lazy to paint your nails or you are taking a break from acrylic but your nails are not good enough for plain polish.

I have so many perfumes that I pick up in next, river island or on sale in the perfume shop. I only have a few that were expensive that I use on special occasions and these other less expensive ones I wouls just use during the day/week. I spray constantly so it is not worth for me to buy expensive perfume as I just literally spray it all over in a week. So when I saw that Primark does perfume I picked up two types. I honestly think they smell great and don.t smell cheap. They are at the two opposite end of the scale which is good as I like mixing up the perfumes I use daily. These were…wait for it… £3.5 each.. OMG what a bargain. I love them and use them all the time and they last ages actually so I find myself praying less. £3.5 is an amazing price.

The last thing I picked up was a little jar candle. Once again it was £1 and I have yet to use it, but I only got it because it is yellow and silver and that matches our colour scheme in the livingroom. (I would love to do a house tour soon).

These are the main bits that I have picked up and I am pleased with all of them. I especially love the shirt, all of the lip liners and the perfumes. I may not wait a year this time to go back.

Hope you enjoyed reading this and let me know if you want me to do more shopping hauls as I go shopping (online mostly) a lot. (I LOVE bargains and sales)

Thanks for reading

Glossybox May 2016

After my disappointing April Glossybox I was really (even more than usual) looking forward to the May box.

I decided not do review the April one as I honestly didn’t like it and was really disappointed especially after seeing all the other reviews and realising how different the April box was.. Never-mind.. another month another box and this one deserves a review. .. but without giving away my full thoughts of this months box, lets see what we got:

First of all a lovely little box this time, this is the #selfieandthecity edition. Think I might even use the box for some sort of storage in my makeup corner. Also the little bag of popcorn was a good addition to my diet.. :O

Right onto the products now, which I am very impressed with and will definitely use a lot.

  1. Hairon- zero crease hair tie – I’ve seen these around for a while now and never really understood what they were for until now. I tie my hair up a lot because it is much easier and also because I am less likely to cut it this way as all I want is long hair but then I get bored of waiting and cut it short… Story of my life. These are quite cool though I really like the idea of them not making my hair creased. The only con is the colour as I am not a fan of pink but I suppose I can’t see it really so its okay. SCORE:3/5
  2. Absolute New York- velvet lippie – Does what it says on the box really. It is the same as the collection 2000 cream puff moisturising lip cream. I have tried this product and its okay but i do think it will take some time getting used to the coverage and consistency. The lippie dries matte which is something I prefer and it is an exact match to one of my new lip pencils that I have picked up in Primark. (Haul coming soon) SCORE:3.5/5
  3. Hawaiian Tropic – protective dry oil SPF15 -I am not quite sure what the actual purpose of this is. I understand its has a low level of protection but it is extremely shiny. I think it would be nice to wear as a shiny oil when the sun is shining but would definitely not suit the beach.. oil and sand just doesn’t seem to match very well in my opinion. However the product smells gorgeous and does feel nice on the skin. I use a moisturising tan as I can’t go into the sun too much due to allergies to heat (good job I live in the UK) and I think it complements my tan. So no I dont recommend it as a sun lotion for a few reasons but its nice to rub all over your legs and arms if you wear shorts on a sunny day. SCORE: 4/5
  4. Bee good youth- enhancing plump & firm moisturiser – not quite sure about the effects of this as I have not used it for long enough. I have tried it and its feels nice, smells nice and has a good consistency that doesn’t make my skin sticky or too oily. I’m not sure if it does firm my skin and not 100% sure I will repurchase but it is a nice addition to the box and I do like testing new face products as I don’t currently have a routine as such. SCORE: 3/5
  5. and finally the Revlon mascara- now all of us Glossy girls got an email to go online and pick one of the 5 types of the Revlon mascaras or if not, then a random will be picked. I remember picking mine then getting an email to say pick again. Second time around, the one I wanted was sold out. I don’t mind I think the maximum length that I received will be good too. I am currently in love with the one i am using now so I have not tried this product yet therefore no score today.

Overall I was happy with this months products, definitely an improvement from last months disaster with them fake tattoos and nail drying spray that doesn’t even work. Never-mind we are over that now and I am enjoying this months box. I cannot wait for June, especially as we are supposedly getting some lip/cheek tints.

I definitely recommend singing up for Glossybox especially if you are thinking of expanding your make-up and beauty collections.

Until next month, stay Glossy
